The multi-million pound re-development of North West Kent is getting ever closer to completion with staff hoping to have everything finished and ready in time for the new academic year.
The new £84m face lift will be the new home for many of the college departments especially for the hair dressing and beauty therapy sector which will benefit from an entirely new salon, therapy and relaxation studio and a makeup studio.

Bexley Gets ready for the National Referendum
On May 5th 2011 there will be local elections held across the country as well as a national referendum which will determine the future of the national voting system.

Pub's continue to suffer across Bexley
The number of pubs across the county has continued to decline in recent years, with the borough of Bexley being no exception as more establishments in the area face the axe.
Since the Labour government won power in 1997 a total of 3,500 pubs have been closed across the country with 210 coming from the Kent area. And according to figures from the Valuation Office Agency, there are now only 1,870 pubs in Kent compared with 2,080 in 1997.

Primary School places given £3.4m boost
The council has set a-side £3.4m to help increase the number of Primary school places across the Bexley borough.
The areas of Thamesmead and Erith will be the main beneficiaries of the 'Basic Need' grant of 2011/2012 being used to increase the size of Jubilee and Castilion primary school in Thamesmead as well as Christ Church CE primary school in Erith..

Barnehurst Golf Course re-development continues to stall
The re-development work at Barnehurst golf course continues to get under way but is met with mixed emotions from local members as prices are set to drastically increase.
The once council run course, was taken over my golf giants MyTime Golf in 2008 who promised a makeover for the run down course, with a new driving range, teaching academy and a complete new lay out to the course being high on the agenda.

Furniture shop goes up in flames after 'cannabis fire'
Wise Bedding and Furnishings furniture shop in Bexleyheath has been destroyed due to a fire that is believed to have started by equipment used to grow cannabis.
The fire started at around 0815 GMT on Friday 19th March and it took six fire fighting crews to tackle the blaze. Luckily there were no fatalities and the fire was quickly brought under control however they could not stop the serious damage that had already occurred to the ground floor shop.
Temporary Road works last over three years
Temporary road works that were initially set to last six months are still in full progress three years later in Joydens Wood, causing continual delays and disruption to the locals.
Joydens Wood, situated just on the outskirts of Dartford, has been interrupted by the temporary roads works for the last three years due to a number of technical faults which has left the residents very frustrated.
